The annual Thaw Out Festival in Boone, NC, celebrates spring’s arrival and the winter snow’s thawing in the area. The festival features a variety of activities, including live music performances, arts and crafts vendors, food and drink, and other entertainment.

Last Year’s Thaw Out Festival saw thousands gather at the Horn of the West for a full slate of entertainment. Great bands like Funkelstiltskin kept the crowd jamming throughout the day.

The festival has been a long-standing tradition in Boone, with roots dating back to the 1970s. Originally known as the “Boone Heritage Festival,” it was rebranded as the Thaw Out Festival in the early 2000s to reflect its focus on celebrating the coming of spring.
Thaw Out is moving to the High Country Fairgrounds with a new title sponsor Appalachian Mountain Brewing this year. Excitement is building as people share their memories of past Thaw Out festivals:
